Call for Papers

International Symposium “Water in Mineral Processing”

In conjunction with the

2012 SME Annual Meeting
Seattle, WA, USA
February 19-22, 2012

The first international symposium on water in mineral processing that intends to promote advanced physical and chemical methods of water purification and recycling to enable recovery of minerals. The symposium will be open to participants from both industry and academia and will focus on innovative water-use and water-purification technologies for mineral processing applications.

Papers on robust new methods of purifying water at low cost, with less energy, and minimized use of chemicals and impact on the environment will be welcome. Since most of the mineral processing operations require high water use to sustain the parameters of selective separation of minerals, the symposium intends to address the needs for sustainable technologies with reduced water consumption and reduced discharge of wastewater.  Strong emphasize will also be given to fundamental aspects of the effects of quality of processing water on recovery in mineral separation operations and grade of the products.
